trekking in nepal

Testimonials

My wife and I did the Everest Base Camp trek last year and we can't recommend Dave and his crew highly enough.

The trek was paced perfectly for our age group (for any age group really) and we learned so much about the culture and the history of Himalayan mountaineering and it's people along the way.

We consider Dave to be among our good friends now and we would do another trip with him in a heartbeat.

Hi David and Raj,

A quick note of thanks.

We just got back to Australia after a restful few days in KohSamui following our Nepal adventure. Nepal was fantastic and we had a great time. Dave and Raj, you and your team did an excellent job looking after us. We feel we got a great overview of Nepal. The trek was a highlight. It was strenuous and difficult at times given the heavy snow at altitude but the scenery made up for it!

I would suggest for other trekkers in winter to bring the slip on crampons - I bought some along the way off other trekkers for Glennda.

The people in Nepal were some of the friendliest in the world we have met - and we have been to many countries. There was great camaraderie between the guides and porters and all of us. We already miss the people. Rafting was also great fun - love to return and try it out again when the water is running faster!

Thank you Dave for taking us to Raj's and for the hospitality and kindness we were shown there. We enjoyed meeting your Nepal family and appreciated that you were always ensuring that we were ok.

Thanks again and we will keep in touch.

Hi David,

Oh we enjoyed the trek immensely. It was the most difficult physical thing we had ever done, but boy it was such a wonderful experience. The mountains blew us away; and we thought the Rocky mountains were big!

My problem was just adjusting firstly to the pollution in Kathmandu, plus the dry, dusty conditions in the mountains. Coming from humidity, older bodies take a while to adjust. Also we had problems with diarrhoea, as well. The tablets that we took did not appear to be all that they promised! I think the food, after a few days, was a challenge, such a different diet that we are used to.

Your company provided a first class service, and everyone was very obliging, and helpful. Our transfers to and from the hotel went smoothly, Raj. and Karma, plus yourself, were exceptional. The only way, that I could have realised the dream of Everest base Camp, was with the trek your company offered, for the over 50's. The dynamics of the group worked well, Ian and Michelle were lots of fun, and we all settled into cards at night... I never thought that patience was such a spectator sport!

So no bad memories at all. The walk to Namche Bazzar, on day 2 was the most difficult; but when you wake up the next morning, no aches and pains, and
you approach each new day with great anticipation, that even though it will be difficult, the scenery will just be out of this world. The porters that we met on the way, and there were many, were very cheerful as they carried their loads up the mountains.

So thank you and your company for all the memories we have and the opportunities to experience what we did, on our Trek to base camp.

Your sincerely,
Peter and Sandra

Hi Dave.

The trip overall was a great experience, and Karma was sensational, and from our observations head and shoulders above others on other treks.

Our porters, Jeet and Bulla were exceptional and did as karma requested of them and often went ahead to secure accommodation.

The adjustments you made to the itinery, including a night in Lukla prior to flying out early the next morning We're a great help, I think it would have been a stretch to walk in the morning of the flight for a 9am departure. Also the night we stayed at Gorak  Shep before walking to base camp, to do it the day of arriving would also have proved a stretch. So all in all some minor adjustments which, I believe, enhanced the experience.

The Chitwan experience was similarly very memorable, although not many people at the Hotel Jungle Safari. The staff were extremely attentive and informative. Speaking to staff, it seems their head office do not market very well in Kathmandu. I would recommend continuing to utilise the facility. Raj organised a car for Michele & I to travel rather than a bus, which was a bonus. Raj was timely & efficient with transfers, etc. There were some flight delays Kathmandu - Lukla and return which we understand are outside the responsibility of the company.

We had 3 x nights in Kathmandu at the end which was probably 1 night too much, although thank you for introducing us to Fire & Ice where we ate 3 nights in a row, and we also found the garden of Dreams which provided some time out from the chaotic streets of the city.

Overall experience 10 out of 10, and whatever you are paying Karma, he is worth more. We welcomed your involvement, perspective and insight into the trek. The trek was as expected sometimes long and hard, but also slow and steady which gave us ample time to appreciate the surrounds.

Thank you for all your company and yourself have done, it was truly the trip of a lifetime. We will be forwarding on some photos to Raj to pass on to Karma, Jeet & Bulla.

Thanks once again For a truly memorable experience.

Kind Regards,
Ian & Michele
