Hi Dave.
The trip overall was a great experience, and Karma was sensational, and from our observations head and shoulders above others on other treks.
Our porters, Jeet and Bulla were exceptional and did as karma requested of them and often went ahead to secure accommodation.
The adjustments you made to the itinery, including a night in Lukla prior to flying out early the next morning We're a great help, I think it would have been a stretch to walk in the morning of the flight for a 9am departure. Also the night we stayed at Gorak Shep before walking to base camp, to do it the day of arriving would also have proved a stretch. So all in all some minor adjustments which, I believe, enhanced the experience.
The Chitwan experience was similarly very memorable, although not many people at the Hotel Jungle Safari. The staff were extremely attentive and informative. Speaking to staff, it seems their head office do not market very well in Kathmandu. I would recommend continuing to utilise the facility. Raj organised a car for Michele & I to travel rather than a bus, which was a bonus. Raj was timely & efficient with transfers, etc. There were some flight delays Kathmandu - Lukla and return which we understand are outside the responsibility of the company.
We had 3 x nights in Kathmandu at the end which was probably 1 night too much, although thank you for introducing us to Fire & Ice where we ate 3 nights in a row, and we also found the garden of Dreams which provided some time out from the chaotic streets of the city.
Overall experience 10 out of 10, and whatever you are paying Karma, he is worth more. We welcomed your involvement, perspective and insight into the trek. The trek was as expected sometimes long and hard, but also slow and steady which gave us ample time to appreciate the surrounds.
Thank you for all your company and yourself have done, it was truly the trip of a lifetime. We will be forwarding on some photos to Raj to pass on to Karma, Jeet & Bulla.
Thanks once again For a truly memorable experience.
Kind Regards,
Ian & Michele
